In this early view of Austin, the old Capitol building used from 1853 to 1881 is visible left of center with a snall dark dome.

View of high, rapid waters of the Colorado River at the site of the former Austin Dam which was broken during the flood. In 1900, upriver storms caused a massive flood that broke the dam and killed eight people. (similar to PICA-22190).
