A large group of people are sitting and standing at the entrance to the Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church. Established soon after Clarksville was founded, Sweet Home was the cornerstone of life in the early freedman's community for its residents and has remained an important part of Clarksville ever since. The church is a City of Austin and a State of Texas Historic Landmark.

John W. Carpenter pictured with projector at the Capitol Theater. A handwritten note on back expresses thanks from Carpenter to Local 205. John W. Carpenter was a longtime projectionist working in Austin, including at the Capitol when the ITC took over the theater. He is shown here in the Capitol projection booth in the early 1930s. He gave this picture to his union, the IATSE (which he joined in 1912).
