Flooded river breaking through center of stone dam

circa 1890

View of high, rapid waters of the Colorado River at the site of the former Austin Dam which was broken during the flood. In 1900, upriver storms caused a massive flood that broke the dam and killed eight people. (similar to PICA-22190).
